The Three Voices

In society, it could be observed that we have too many leaders who only know the language of want and should (desire and force). In other words, they are adults in body only. The best they can do is organise a society around these two voices of want and should because that is all they know. The result is that they create a society where their unregulated child desires are achieved by indoctrinating everyone else with the voice of should to such a degree that they will obey this inner voice automatically.   This voice of should is conditioned into minds through psychological, religious, and financial means and, when all else fails, the means of war. It rests on creating the illusion that those in power are not really dysregulated people led by the voice of want but are like everyone else, obeying the voice of should and are morally mature adults – even though it is plain to everyone they are not in many cases. They have to create the impression that they are mature, loving adults, and being an adult is defined by those who follow the voice of should because this is the highest voice they know. They do not know the voice of love, the highest and most mature voice. Thus, image is very important to maintain, so we create a society based on a lack of transparency to help maintain it. Therefore, the media industry is designed with this in mind. They also need to create somehow the impression that the lifestyle they enjoy, which is all based on the voice of want, is respectable. Thus, materialism is encouraged as the respectable goal of civilisation. Lack of transparency of action is critical as those in power being led by the voice of want to rely for their moral authority on the perception by the rest of the population that they are also people who listen to the voice of should like everyone else. Of course, they are found to be lacking in some cases through careless activity, but as long as the majority of those in power are careful, the power structure is maintained. This power structure underpins the master-slave relationship at the heart of human civilisation for so many millennia. We see in the world that many physical adults act like damaged teenagers, abusing their younger sisters and brothers who become damaged through these control mechanisms whilst acting like immature, damaged children themselves.  We see it in the call by people worldwide for a strong man to be in control, even though this baffles others who want freedom and see through the charade that these men are powerful, authentic men who have the capacity for love. Such is the depth of conditioning of the slave-master relationship. The only way out is to mature into a genuine loving adult beyond the damaged adolescent and child mentalities so that these mentalities can enjoy their proper place in the true loving freedom of the adult and become healed.  This can only be achieved by realising that we are beings of consciousness and not of mind and matter.  Only by experiencing ourselves as consciousness, and not through the separating thoughts and feelings of the mind and body, can we see that all existence is one flow, and this opens up the desire to celebrate existence, not control it or be frightened of it.  So much hinges on whether those in authority can speak the language of love, wisdom and courage, not desire and force.
