Transcending Gender

One of the most significant issues of our age has been the creation of a highly divided system of social organization based upon the archetypal characteristics of masculine and feminine. Fortunately, worldwide, we witness the new green shoots of a compelling evolution in human society. It allows us greater freedom, creativity, and new, more balanced social relations giving rise to new economic and political possibilities. It is early days and we are still rubbing the metaphorical sleep from our eyes and peering out through a slightly blurred perception. This evolution is that which allows society to transcend the demarcation of people based on gender differences.

Since the beginning of human society, there has been a reverence for the beautiful fluid and flowing archetypal energy of gender. The Yin and the Yang. The masculine and the feminine. In our simplicity, we have fallen into an obvious but limiting trap of associating gender with the physical expression of sex. We have circumscribed our culture, psychology and societies, our communications and linguistics around this polarisation which is naïve and self-defeating. The psychological and social damage of this human-made distortion of nature has become one of the biggest problems we now face. Many of our current social problems can be attributed to the polarization of gender – quite simply, it has been the most extensive and most flawed socialization process ever created.

However, in reality, the beautiful power of what we have called masculine and feminine energy is all part of a single unitary creative energy finding expression in physical, psychological and social forms. The social evolution is underway. The world of gender divisions and polarisations is coming to an end, and a world of transcending gender is emerging. This future is where human energy is most unified. The best qualities of the human species will flourish, allowing men and women to forge a new unity based on a more profound and meaningful view of their shared humanity.
